Welcome to The Dev Club's blog!

Lots of exciting news from the club for this week, so I'll recap to the best of my ability.

Today we had a big meeting with representatives from the Animation Society, Video Game Guild, The (soon to be) Concept Art Club, Eric Elder (head of Game Wizards), and yours truly.

Although I can't get into all the details yet (because they're not set in stone), I can say that the clubs are collaborating to create something HUGE. There will be more on this in the coming days, but for now, let me explain on how that's going to affect TDC:

As part of a plan to build a school-wide brand for our games, we will be collaborating with the Animation Society on a game based on their upcoming animated short. The plan is to release a game and the short at the same time, and have them tie in to each other. As a result, we had to scrap much of what we had worked on during the Wednesday Meeting, so our production meeting today didn't get as far as I had hoped, but we've formulated a plan to get production on track.

The first part of this strategy was to elect Andrea Emmes as the producer for our game, so congratulations to her! She has taken on the enormous task of helping coordinate our efforts.

Over the coming days we will be working on making several improvements to our work flow and structure to make everyone's lives easier.

We will have many more details by next meeting (Wednesday @ 5pm in room 428), but we are working on reserving a room just for us, so we can have our production meetings with no interruptions.

We still have plans to livestream the meetings, but I have no set date yet. Again, more info on that soon. For now, please check in here for updates like this one to stay up to date if you were not able to make a meeting.

Also, you may notice I added a contact page, and will be adding officers and key member information soon. For now, my information is up, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

--- Important, for next meeting ---

Please bring your notebooks/sketchpads and pencils/pens next meeting. We will start working on the game itself this coming week, so be ready!

For all concept artists, please work on some sketches for concepts for the Captain's Room we discussed in class. I'll be getting a link soon where you can reference all the current concept work done to this point. Remember: this will be a small level used as a mini-tutorial, so work on the basic layout of the room. Focus on key elements and points of interest in the layout.

We we also use our next meeting to catch up on some of the things we didn't have a chance to do this week, including the creation of teams. We will be breaking up into art, programming and design teams.

Lastly, I'd like to remind everyone that we will be having our first guest speaker in a couple weeks. Mark from DACAAM.com we will be giving a presentation on the what Dacaam is all about and the indie development community.

One Response so far.
